i'm nobody's baby, i'm everybody's girl

i consider myself a moderately girly gal.
i love lace and flowers and glitter, but i'm also very practical.
i don't have an obsession with shoes. i can totally appreciate (and sometimes obsess) over a cute pair, but by no means would i be willing to dish out hundreds. i've had the occasional manicure, but every time, i swear i'll never do it again. i've never paid for a facial, and i only see a hair salon twice a year.
basically, the many frivolities that some girls get caught up in, are not really my style.
however, this weekend, i made a couple tiny exceptions.

you see, i don't have class on fridays. and this friday, i was a good girl and didn't spend money the night before. annnd, i knew i'd have a long weekend of work ahead, so i decided to treat myself to some modest shopping at target. little did i remember how adorable and reasonably priced everything is at tar-jay. with that logic, i walked away with a pair of jeans, a dress, a bathing suit top, a pair of shoes, and new workout clothes, all for about $100.

then i worked friday night and all day saturday to make up for it.
the extra sacrifice: missing the unbelievably beautiful skies outside
while i toiled away in a dark and smokey sports bar

on sunday, amber and i had brunch in the sun outside panera.
we usually get food to-go and get comfy on the couch at home, drooling broccoli cheddar into our bread bowls while watching vampire diaries. but, sunday was just too pretty to be spent inside.
i felt like i should be in one of those awkward outdoor restaurant scenes on an episode of the hills, except our conversation was much more hilarious and inappropriate than anything those so-cal girls ever uttered. i've often wondered why camera crews don't follow me and amber around. especially when we were in england and italy. i used to write our funny conversations down. i think i'll start again.

after panera, and picking out free panties at victoria secret, amber and i got pedicures!
i haven't had one in exactly two years. i only remember that because i had just gotten a french pedicure shortly before i drunkenly sprained my ankle two springs ago. suddenly my ankle was the size of a baseball and there was all this focus on my feet, which were thankfully polished and pretty :)
well amber and i have been extremely stressed lately, what with school and work and family and GRADUATING soon. so, we felt that this little bit of pampering was well-deserved.

:) hope you had a lovely weekend!
